Visit to Thousands of Love Care Centre in Kajang

We set off to do our first charity work after Wesak day on 5 June 2010. This time at Thousands of Love Care Centre (Pusat Jagaan Beribuan Kasih) which is located at No. 3, Lot 1547, Belakang Taman Bangi, Jln Reko, 43000 Kajang.

The centre was quite easy to locate. We turned right at the second traffic light after passing BMSM Kajang Buddhist Center (former Sun Theatre) along Jln Reko. After the traffic light we passed a Church followed by a factory. We found the centre as its signboard could be easily seen after the turn at the curve.

The centre was founded by Mr. Magantheran @ Boy. Our visit was in response to an SMS appealing for financial aid from the caretaker, Ms. Kavitha.

The centre takes care of 38 inmates, consists of 22 children and 16 senior citizens. Its financilal resources rely solely from public support. The premise of the centre is rented at RM500 per month.

We donated RM500 and some sundry provisision (30 kg of rice, 3 (5kg each) bottles of cooking oil, beehoon, milo, condensed milk, oat, nestum cereal and milk powder).

I would recommend everyone go visit an old folks home. Talk to them and just listen. The stories they tell you are good lessons.
